Jason D. Young, 39, of Waterloo, died Tuesday, May 4, 2021 at MercyOne Des Moines Medical Center.

He was born July 20, 1981, in Waterloo, son of George and Anita Hughbanks Young and graduated from Waterloo East High School in 1999.

Jason worked at Game Stop.

and enjoyed spending his time working on cars, loves sports, playing video games, playing games with the kids, picking on the kids, fishing, he's always trying go out on boat and find reasons to eat.
His favorite holiday is Halloween and he loves picking up presents for the kids at Christmas.

Jason is survived by his mother, Anita (Dallas) Ackerson of Waterloo; father, George (Susan) Young of Evansdale; sisters, Jamie (Russell Wood) Rifai‚ Jennifer (Ismael) Sipac‚ both of Waterloo; step-sisters, Desiree Ackerson of Oelwein‚ Jennifer Becker of Readlyn‚ and Jessica (Chris) Schilling of Evansdale; step-brother, Jamie (Kelly Fishler) Ruth of Wisconsin; maternal grandfather, Martin Hughbanks of Waterloo‚ step-grandfather, Thomas Campbell of Waterloo; and numerous aunts, uncles, nieces, and nephews.

He is preceded in death by his grandmother, Rita Campbell; grandparents, George and Joann Young; great-grandmother, Mabel Marvin; and one brother-in-law, Ramez Rifai.
