Sylvia Twymon was born October 14, 1940
In Cleveland, Ohio, the third of five children of Milton and Madilean (Jenkins) Twymon, and graduated from Glenville High School. Sylvia worked first at the Cleveland Public Library, then studied nursing at University Hospital before leaving to start her career at the United States Postal Service as a letter sorter and later trainer, until she retired.

Sylvia married the love of her life William "Big" Wilson on May 2, 1977 and was his steadfast partner until he passed on August 11, 2008. Sylvia and Big were very active in the church, where he was a deacon and she was revered for her culinary expertise, as no one contributed to the church potlucks like Miss Sylvia. Her artistry as a seamstress was exceptional, and her interior design skills enviable. Her Christmas trees would have held a place of honor in any department store. Always with joy in her heart and a song on her lips, she was a doting mother to all the babies, and cared deeply for the children. No child went without when Miss Sylvia was around. And you always learned something, as teaching was in her heart. She was a fervent supporter of her daughter Shirdena Monique, who inherited her mother's keen intellect, quick wit, and independent spirit.

Sylvia was predeceased by her parents Milton and Madilean (Jenkins) Twymon, husband William "Big" Wilson, sisters Rosie Twymon, Shirdena (Twymon) (Benny Sr) Mostella, and brother Earl Dennis (Mildred) Twymon. She is survived by sister Mamie (Twymon) (Alexander Sr) Blair, daughter Dr. Shirdena Monique Twymon, nephews Benny Mostella and Alexander Vincent (Aveva) Blair and children Kelsie, Courtney, Alexia and Alexander Miles, niece Stephany Blair, "adopted" daughter Betsy Ann Mason and her children Kevin, Emilyn, and Ryan Shortridge, "adopted" daughter Ramona Preston Tolbert and her daughter Stefani Tolbert, "adopted" son Thomas Charles King, her children through marriage Jeffrey Wilson and daughter Helen Carol Brown and her three sons Brandon, Justin, and Anthony, grandson Cameron Christopher Mason and a lifetime of beloved family and friends too numerous to list. The family would like to extend special appreciation for the devoted, loving care of Neshay Whitfield.

Sylvia went to join her husband Big and her Lord Jesus on April 24, 2021 under the loving care of her daughter Shirdena. Sister Mamie survives as the matriarch of the family, and niece Stephany sustains her culinary legacy. Nephew Vincent embodies her caring spirit and her love of the Lord, and Benny carries her music in his soul. A little piece of her will live on in every life she touched. Sylvia planted the garden of her life, cultivated the flowers, and built a foundation for all who remain to carry it forward. May we all strive to be worthy.
