Louise was born on July 24, 1936 in Lake Charles, Louisiana born to Theophile Mere and Eva Quebedeaux Mere. Louise resided there until marrying the love of her life, Austin Jones and moved to Sulphur in 1961 to begin their family.
Louise was an active member of Immaculate Conception Catholic Church. She served as a religious educator, and a member of the Catholic Daughters of the Americas, and The Lady's Altar Society. Louise was a Lay Eucharistic Minister and also brought Communion to the elderly and home bound. She was also active in a weekly Rosary Group.
Louise graduated from McNeese State University with a Masters Degree. After teaching 1st grade for 34 years at Maplewood Elementary she retired and enjoyed traveling with her husband to many destinations. She enjoyed playing cards with her friends. Louise loved her family and spent most of the holidays with them, but especially loved spending time with her grandchildren and watching them grow.
Louise was preceded in death by her husband, Austin Jones, granddaughter, Alicia Delafosse, parents, Eva and Theophile Mere, sister, Dorothy Kohl, and a son-in-law, Vernon Delafosse.
Those left behind to cherish her memory are her three daughters, Elizabeth Delafosse (Eddie), Glynda Guillory (Russell) and Jennifer Diamond (John); grandchildren, Jason Delafosse, Angelle Petry (Damian), Brandi Guillory, Meagan Giuffrida (Steve), Austin and Phillip Diamond; great grandchildren Dré Belaire, Bailey, Macey and Makenzy Delafosse, Carson, Collin, and Kensley Petry; brother, Wilfred Mere, Sr. (Jeanette), and numerous nieces, nephews.
Louise's family would like to say a special thank you to her home caregivers, Julia Victorian and Laura Hall whom she appreciated and loved. We would also like to thank the staff at Woodbriar Assisted Living for their wonderful care.
