Herbert Hoover White, 92, of Pasadena, Texas passed away Wednesday, May 5, 2021. He was born January 19, 1929 in Early County, Georgia to Arthur and Maude (Dykes) White. Herbert enjoyed fishing, traveling to the family home in Georgia as often as possible, and playfully telling his great-grandchildren to "Scat". He also frequented the penny slots at Coushatta Casino, earning him the affectionate nickname, Penny Man. After serving in the United States Airforce, he attended night school to become a pipefitter and retired from Brown & Root in 1991.

Lovingly called "Papa" by his grandchildren and great-grandchildren, Herbert will be remembered for his fish fry's, finger thumps, and his love of the Houston Astros. Never one to wait his turn to open a present at Christmas, he could frequently be found presiding over family gatherings lounging in a recliner.

Herbert is survived by his son John David White (Karen); daughter Connie Lynn Davis; brother Bill White; grandchildren Anna Harvey Wood (Chad), Chad Harvey (Katie Sowden), Dayna White Riley (Aaron), Trina White Marshall (Ryan); great-grandchildren Korrin Harvey, Kaitlyn Harvey, Haley Wood, Hannah Wood, Paige Riley, Lincoln Riley, Scout Marshall, Quinn Marshall; and numerous nieces and nephews. He is also survived by his beloved cats, Tom Kitty and Miss Kitty.

He is preceded in death by his parent; nine siblings; his beautiful wife, Norma Frances White; and son Joe Mark White.

Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Monday, May 10, 2021 at Grand View Funeral Home with burial to follow. Visitation will be Sunday, May 9, 2021 from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. at Grand View Funeral Home.

Pallbearers will be Chad Harvey, Chad Wood, Aaron Riley, Ryan Marshall, and Greg Morgan. Honorary pallbearer is Jimmy White.
