Mr. Joel Ernell Harris of Campbellsville, son of the late Hobson and Pearl (Adair) Harris, passed from this life on Thursday, May 6, 2021 at his home. Born in Pauline, South Carolina on December 1, 1932, he was 88 years, 5 months, and 5 days of age. He had made a profession of faith in Christ and was a member of Bethel First Presbyterian Church. As a young man, he joined the United States Army and served his country honorably during the Korean Conflict, earning several medals, including a Purple Heart, and attaining the rank of Sergeant First Class. In 1993, he retired from Union Underwear after 28 years of employment.

Mr. Harris leaves to cherish his memory:

Three children: Albert Tindall Harris of Campbellsville, Teresa West and husband Gary of Wyoming, and Nona Gribbins and husband Greg of Campbellsville,

A sister: Doris Franklin of South Carolina,

Eight grandchildren: B.J. Harris, Jackson Ernell Harris, Jacob Harris, Lindsey Hash, Sara Celeste Wyatt, Jonathan Ernell West, Benjamin Samuel West, and Amanda West,

Eight great-grandchildren: Thomas Ernell West, Drayden Hash, Rhyan Hash, Bryson Gabehart, Elijah Hash, Ava Lynn Harris, Ian West, and Ridley Harris,

And a host of extended family and friends.

He was also preceded in death by his beloved wife: Margaret Fay (Montgomery) Harris; a son: Joel Mayes Harris; three brothers: James B. Harris, Elvis Harris, and Harold Harris; five sisters: Florine Hyatt, Dena Sanders, Melda Harrison, Jamie Ellen Harris, and Inza Smith.

There will be a funeral service to honor the life of Mr. Harris on Monday, May 10, 2021 at 1:00 PM in the chapel of the L.R. Petty Funeral Home, 1765 New Columbia Rd, Campbellsville, KY. Bro. Jim Murphy will be officiating. He will be laid to rest beside his late wife in the Bethel Presbyterian Cemetery, 3250 Old Columbia Rd, Campbellsville, KY. The Marion County Veterans Honor Guard will conduct full military honors.

The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Monday, May 10, from 10:00 A
