York - Robert R. Berkheimer, 89, entered into rest at 5:45 p.m. on Wednesday, April 28, 2021 at UPMC Memorial Hospital. He was the loving husband of Lottie A. (Stover) Berkheimer. The couple celebrated 69 years of marriage on June 24, 2020.

Born June 18, 1931 in Dover, Robert was a son of the late Raymond F. and Virgie I. (Hess) Berkheimer.

He was a painter for R.F. Berkheimer & Sons, Inc., and also founded BAPS Paint.

Robert was a member of Harmony Grove Community Church in Dover for over 80 years where he was a member of the Benevolence Committee and a former board member. Robert was also a former board member of Christian School of York and was an integral part of the school's founding. He and his wife raised numerous foster children over the years. He enjoyed trout fishing.

In addition to his wife, Robert is survived by a daughter, Robin A. Kauffman and husband, Kevin of Lewisberry; a son, Denis E. Berkheimer and wife, Ida of York; seven grandchildren, Dave and Sue Myers, Ruth Aikins, Rachel Wilkins, Hannah, Robert and Sara Berkheimer; four great grandchildren, Linus and Esme Myers and Logan and Ella Wilkins; a sister, Gladys Gross of Spring Grove; and a brother, Ray Berkheimer of York. He was preceded in death by a son, Ted R. Berkheimer; foster son, Gary L. Snell; a sister, Betty L. Hibner; and a brother, Daniel Berkheimer.

Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend Robert's funeral at 11 a.m. on Saturday, May 8, 2021 at Harmony Grove Community Church, 6390 Harmony Grove Rd., Dover with the viewing from 9 to 11 a.m. Saturday at the church. Burial will follow in Salem Union Cemetery in Dover. Officiating will be his pastor the Rev. Jim Crosley.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Harmony Grove Community Church, 6390 Harmony Grove Rd., Dover, PA 17315.
