Samuel and his wife, Elizabeth Kinkade were married in Cherokee County, Kansas, on February 7, 1888, but they were never found in the same census record together.

They couple had children together, that were under the care of Elizabeth.
Lloyd Elson Beers, who may have been a son from a previous marriage, was born October 29, 1885 in Indiana, according to his death certificate, born December 1884 according to the 1900 census in St. Louis, and born December 18, 1882, in the U.S., Veterans Administration Master Index, 1917-1940. A final entry: Lloyd E Beers, in the U.S., Social Security Applications and Claims Index, 1936-2007, had his birth given as December 18, 1883, in Warsaw, Indiana. The latter information was consistent with his reporting in his World War 2 draft registration. So his parentage and birth is slippery. There is a record of Samuel E Beers who married Hattie M Walton on September 4, 1882 in Indiana. But even that date is questionable as it is also recorded as September 12, 1882 (in Kosciusko County, Indiana). Hattie may have been the mother of Lloyd, and Hattie may have been a nickname for Harriet. Lloyd was listed as the step-son of Elizabeth Beers in her obituary.

Harold Kinkade Beers was born September 13, 1889 in Wichita, and Clarence Scott Beers was born in Pueblo, Colorado, on March 16, 1892. Both of these children would certainly have been children of Samuel and Elizabeth.

In the 1900 census of Kern County, California, Samuel was listed as widowed, and was working as a sales manager.

In 1920 he lived in Casa Grande, Pinal, Arizona, and was listed as single, and working as a painting contractor.

His son Clarence Scott Beers Sr. married Florence Lillian Gillett, on May 2, 1917, in Columbia, Missouri. Their son Clarence Scott Beers Jr. would grow up to be a pitcher for the St. Louis Cardinals. They also had a daughter, Wilna Bene "Suzie". Clarence's wife, Florence, died in St. Petersburg, Pinellas County, Florida, on June 15, 1964. Clarence died November 17, 1965, in a Pinellas Park nursing home.
