Van Alstyne, Texas - Funeral services for Cecil Achimon, age 86, will be Saturday, January 15, 2005 at the Howe Church of Christ at 10 a.m. Officiating will be Doug Bickenbach and Toby Soechting. Interment will be at Van Alstyne Cemetery.

Mr. Achimon passed away Wednesday January 12, 2005 at Wilson N. Jones Medical Center.

Cecil was born May 3, 1918 the son of Barney Achimon and Nanny Pearl Vineyard Achimon. He married Mildred Walker, his childhood sweetheart, on October 14, 1938. They celebrated their 65th anniversary in 2003. They spent 66 happy years together.

He was a farmer. He farmed at Van Alstyne, Bristol, and Venus for several years. He loved farming and raising cattle.

He was a devoted member of the Howe Church of Christ. He served as Elder at Trenton Church of Christ and Deacon at Bristol and Venus. He loved reading the Bible and often got up during the night to study the Bible. He loved teaching his grandchildren the Bible.

He was preceded in death by three grandchildren, Lisa Jones, Gary Achimon, and Mark Achimon, his mother and father, three sisters and three brothers.

Mr. Achimon is survived by his wife, Mildred; one son L.C. Achimon and wife Donnita of Tom Bean; one daughter, Betty Chumbley and husband John of Howe; 5 grandchildren, Donnie Achimon and wife Sharon of Tom Bean, Evelyn Achimon of Tom Bean, Phillip Achimon of McKinney, Michelle Marable of Howe, Kim Carson and husband Wade of Van Alstyne, and David Chumbley of Dallas. Nine great-grandchildren, Lyndsey Jones of Tom Bean, Lacey Shehane and husband Cody of Tom Bean, Holly Achimon of Norman, OK, Matt and Lauren Achimon of Tom Bean, Clay Marable of Howe, Kelsey and Sydney Achimon of Tom Bean, and Kate Carson of Van Alstyne. Two step great-grandchildren Clint and Sarah Word of Tom Bean. Two brothers, Roy Achimon of Arlington and R.L. Achimon of Whitesboro. Two sisters, Gaynel McWilliams and Wilma Owens.

Pallbearers will be David Chumbley, Wade Carson, Dale Marable, Matt Achimon, Paul Jones, and Parker White.

Family visitation will be 7 to 8 p.m. Friday night at Flesher Funeral Home in Van Alstyne.
