US Congressman. He served in the Union Army during the Civil War as 1st Lieutenant of Company I, 16th Vermont Volunteer Infantry, being mustered in on September 20, 1862, and serving until he resigned due to disabilities on March 19, 1863. He was elected s a Republican to represent Vermont's 2nd Congressional District in the United States House of Representatives, serving from 1901 to 1909.
