David Redford Lanigan

Plattsburgh ? Mr. David Redford Lanigan, 79, of Brinkerhoff Street, passed away peacefully at his home Thursday, April 26, 2001, after a short illness.

He was born in Brooklyn on May 15, 1921, the son of the late David C.F. and Agnes (Redford) Lanigan.

David graduated from Stamford High School in 1938 and from Cornell University in 1943. He served as an officer in the U.S. Army in the Philippines during World War II from 1943 to 1945 and later in the Korean War from 1951 to 1953 as a northern-most forward observer.

David arrived in Plattsburgh in January 1948 as a Cooperative Extension agent for Cornell University. He soon committed himself to numerous community endeavors. He was a charter member of the Clinton County Fair Board and many civic organizations. David was a tireless promoter of education at all levels and has worked with Plattsburgh State's School of Business and a mentor for many accounting students and area businesses.

In addition to these community activities, David was a very active member of the St. John's Parish community. His deep interests in all of these areas of agriculture, politics and business led to a vigorous professional life which enhanced not only his own personal life and faith, but of those who knew and loved him as well.

David is survived by his wife of 53 years, Jane Frances (Devlin) Lanigan, whom he married Aug. 7, 1948. He is also well loved and survived by his daughter Karen and her husband, Randall Larkin and their children, Kristen, Patrick, Anne, Kevin and Brian of Plattsburgh; his daughter Maureen and her husband, Larry Brown and their children, David, Elissa, Matthew and Emily of East Leroy, Mich.; his son John Lanigan and his wife, Nora Hennessy Lanigan and their son, Sean of Saranac Lake; his son, Chris Lanigan and his wife, Kathryn Calhoun Lanigan of Morrisonville; his sister, Jean Lanigan Lenehan and her husband James, who reside in Radnor, Pa.; three sisters-in-law; and 31 nieces and nephews, all of whom will remember him as a loving and lively patriarch who drew his family together.

Calling hours will be Sunday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. at the Brown Funeral Home in Plattsburgh. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated Monday at 1 p.m. at St. John's Church. Interment will follow in Mt. Carmel Cemetery.

Friends wishing may make donations to the FitzPatrick Cancer Center, St. John's Endowment Fund or St. Peter's Endowment Fund.

Donald J. Ducatte

Cadyville ? Mr. Donald J. Ducatte, 77, of Goddeau Road, died Thursday, April 26, 2001, at the CVPH Medical Center.

He was born in Plattsburgh on July 22, 1923, the son of the late Michael and Maud (Simmons) Ducatte.

Donald was a veteran of World War II, serving in the U.S. Army.
