Larry Thomas Barker, 60, of Postville, Iowa died Tuesday, May 4, 2021 at his home in Postville, Iowa.

Larry was born December 19, 1960 to Thomas and Donna (Thompson) Barker in West Union, Iowa. He was baptized and confirmed at St. Olaf Lutheran Church in West Union, Iowa. Larry graduated from North Fayette High School in 1979.

He worked for Gage and Gage Plumbing & Heating of West Union during high school and after college.

He attended University of Dubuque and then the University of Northern Iowa for one year.

He worked for Modcomp Homes of Independence before starting with Bemiss Distributing. Larry was starting his thirty-eighth year working for Bemiss Distributing as a route driver, salesman and Tap Specialist.

On September 4, 1982, Larry was united in marriage with Cheryl Teare, to this union two daughters were born, they later divorced.

On May 23, 2003 Larry was united in marriage with Laurie Zapf.

He enjoyed bowling, racing, playing softball and watching sports. He especially loved the Hawkeyes, Jets, and Yankees. Larry was a flagman or did scoring for racing at Fayette Co. Speedway, Echo Valley Speedway and in Lancaster and Cresco.
Outside of work, he enjoyed doing "quality control for Budweiser".
Larry loved camping, riding his Harley, taking vacations and spending time with family and friends.

Surviving Larry are his wife, Laurie Barker of Postville, Iowa; his daughters, Karysta (Mitchell) Wheeler of Dunkerton, Iowa and Katrina (fiancé, Colin Becker) Barker of Jesup, Iowa; two grandchildren, Kambrey and Maxxon Wheeler; mother, Donna Barker of West Union, Iowa; brother, Jay Barker of West Union, Iowa; fathers-in-law and mother-in-law, Jerry Zapf and Sandie (Lonnie) Beisker; niece, Tori (fiancé, Tristan Stone) Barker of Holland, Iowa; nephew, Andy (Bailey) Barker of Carroll, Iowa, great nephews, Simon and Will Barker; sister-in-law, Kris Lewis (Rodney Schlitter) of Guttenberg, Iowa; brother-in-law, Lee (Sara) Zapf of Garnavillo, Iowa; nieces and nephews, Jordan (Mat) Ries, Alex Rose, Derrick (fiancé Rachel) Beck, Audi, Kailee, and Carter Zapf; and loving aunts, uncles and cousins.

He was preceded in death by his father, Tom.

Visitation will be held from 2-6 pm on Sunday, May 9, 2021 at Burnham-Wood-Grau Funeral Home and Cremation Service in West Union, Iowa. There will also be a one hour visitation before services at the church on Monday.

Funeral Service will be at 11:00 am on Monday, May 10, 2021 at Redeemer Lutheran Church in West Union, Iowa with Pastor Rusty Phillips as the officiant.

Burial will follow at West Union Cemetery in West Union, Iowa.
