Ralph L. Meeker, a Prineville resident passed away on Sunday, Aug. 17, 2003 in a motor vehicle accident. He was 55 years old.
Memorial service will be held on Friday, Aug. 22, at 2 p.m. at the Powell Butte Christian Church.
Private Graveside services were held at the Juniper Haven Cemetery.
Ralph was born on May 19, 1948 in Redmond, the son of Robert and Barbara (Shopshire) Meeker. Ralph was raised and educated in Redmond, graduating from Redmond High School in 1967.
While in high school he was in wrestling, football, and 4-H showing cows.
He married Karen Dyer on March 8, 1969 at the Powell Butte Christian Church. Ralph worked for the Deschutes Co. road department working with their computers from 1969 until 1998.
He moved to Prineville in 1980. He started his own business, R.M. Computers, in Prineville.
He also worked for Cellular Unlimited for the past year.
Ralph was a member of the Powell Butte Christian Church.
He loved the outdoors including hunting, fishing, golfing and going to Brownlee Reservoir for catfish and crappie.
He was a supporter of Crook County High School sports and had coached little league baseball in Prineville for many years.
He sponsored his grandchildren in their rodeo activities.
His main interest was his children and grandchildren, and he was known for his sense of humor.
Ralph is survived by his children Kevin Meeker of Prineville, Jason Meeker and his wife Melissa of Hillsboro, Scott Meeker of Bend, and Trisha Meeker of Bend; grandchildren Koli Cooper of Prineville, Katelyn Cooper of Delta, Colo., Alex Greenberg of Prineville, and Collbran Meeker of Prineville; mother Barbara Meeker of Redmond; brother Earl Meeker of Prineville; sisters Rae Burwell of Benton, La., Ann Burwell of Delta, Colo., and Janice Dyer of Arlington; and 13 nieces and nephews.
Ralph was preceded in death by his father in 1967 and brother Tim during the Vietnam War in 1966.
It has been suggested that those wishing to make a memorial contribution in Ralph's memory to direct them to the family at any Wells Fargo Bank under Jason R. Meeker.
Arrangements are under the direction of the Prineville Funeral Home.
