Obituary:
Jack Campbell, age 82, passed away May 4, 2021 at Middlesboro Appalachian Regional Hospital after a brief battle with cancer. He was born in Middlesboro, KY on December 16, 1938 to Sally Johnson Campbell and William Gobel Campbell.
He joined the military at 17 years old making it a life career. He retired as a Chief Warrant Officer 4. He served in the Navy and the 278th Calvary Regiment of the Tennessee National Guard where he became an award winning sharp shooter. He met his beautiful wife in Ft Lauderdale, FL while coming ashore and after a short courtship they married. He lived his life to care for his wife, children, grandchildren, great grandchildren, and to serve his country. Jack was truly a man of all trades. He volunteered his time teaching tree grafting in the area high schools, a photographer, a man of science, a bee keeper, a gardener, a woodsman and a carpenter, building his wife the home she wanted and the lived out their lives in. He is preceded in death by his parents; his brothers: David Campbell, Roger Campbell and his wife of 60 years, Ruth Campbell.
Service will be held Saturday, May 8, 2021 at Shumate Funeral Home Chapel of Middlesboro, KY from 1 to 3 p.m. All friends and family are invited to attend the celebration of his life.
