Bill H. Moon Obituary

William Herbert Moon was born August 15, 1952 in Fort Dodge, the son of Herbert and Deloris (Kennedy) Moon. He grew up in Corwith where he attended school until tenth grade getting his GED to finish while in the military.

In 1969, Bill's first job was at Winnebago. He then enlisted in the army in 1971 and served until 1975. Following the service, he worked as a private investigator in Alaska. Bill came back to the lower 48 states and worked as a mechanic in many places, worked at an elevator, a tire shop, automotive store, metal scrapper, plastics manufacturing plant manager, towing company, welder on huge ships in Texas, welder for IMT, a driver of a gigantic truck in an underground quarry, worked for farmers, worked as a rancher in Oaklahoma, was a pizza cook in a Casey's, was an over the road truck driver, had his own very successful moving company in Texas, and many other exciting jobs then returned to Winnebago for three years until retiring in September of 2016. He started a hauling business in Titonka and worked until an accident left him with limitations that made him unable to continue working.

Bill married Susannah in Alaska and was married for three years. They had Brian and Tanya. He married Brenda in Minnesota in 1977 and was married for 10 years and had Herb, Tiffany, and Joe. He married Theresa in Kamrar and was married for 17 years. He married Alison in Webster City at Briggs Woods in 2017 and they were married for almost 4 years before his death. They were living in Wayland Iowa and became part of a wonderful church community where Bill gave his life to the Lord on March 30th 2021. He had many friends there and was a vital part of the community and loved by all.
Bill was a Cowboy at heart and enjoyed music, traveling, camping and those night time camp fires, classic car shows, restoring classic trucks with his son, and spending time with his kids and grandkids. So many memories of garage parties with family. He loved eating Mike's and Bruce's delicious smoked foods and Janet's and Jean's yummy sides! He was a master at finding used things his friends told him they needed from cars and trucks or lawnmowers to go carts, motorcycles or even furniture or appliances and then helping his friends who were looking for it to get it no matter how far he had to drive. Bill was known as a terrific storyteller. His life included long tales of incredible adventures like pulling four cars and trucks all chained together behind his car to safety many miles away through a blizzard on a highway at night. He didn't like bullies and had plenty of stories talking of how he helped the weaker person by standing up for them. He loved entertaining friends and family with his wonderful gift of telling those stories.

Bill had neck fusion surgery, open heart surgery triple bypass, and COVID-19 all in 2020.
Bill died Monday, May 3, 2021 at Mercy Medical Center, Mason City. He was 68.
