US Congressman. A native of Macon, Mississippi, he served with the Confederate Army during the American Civil War. He was elected as a Democrat to represent Mississippi's 5th District in the United States House of Representatives, serving from 1887 to 1891. He was also a Member of the Mississippi State House of Representatives from 1879 to 1880, and was US District Attorney for the Northern District of Mississippi from 1896 to 1897.
