Patrick Andrew Patterson, died at home surrounded by loved ones including his wife, Karen (nee Kemp) Patterson, two of his daughters, his two dogs, and Niagara Hospice. He was born in Clearfield, PA on August 10, 1956, the oldest son of Dorothy (nee Price) Verdecchia and the late Andrew Thomas (Darlene) Patterson. Mr. Patterson grew up in Clearfield County, PA. He was part of the Golden Tide of Curwensville High School until his family moved to Hamburg, NY where he finished high school as a Bulldog at Hamburg Central in 1974. Mr. Patterson started his lifelong career in maintenance and engineering out of high school, working and learning alongside his father, a master electrician and plumber at the Motel Exit 56 in Hamburg, NY.

Mr. Patterson served 30 meritorious years in the US Army. He served active duty in Germany beginning in 1976. Notable service throughout his US Army Reserve career included Desert Shield and Operation Desert Storm, both 365th Evacuation Hospital and deployed out of Aberdeen Proving Grounds, MD (1990-1991); led a US Army Reserve convoy from Niagara Falls, NY to NYC to set up a medical unit in response to September 11, 2001 terrorist attacks; and Operation Enduring Freedom and Noble Eagle, Fort Drum, NY, 962D Ordinance Co the 77th Regional Support Command and the US Army (2003). Mr. Patterson retired in 2008 as US Army Chief Warrant Officer 4, a maintenance and engineering mechanic, in US Army 99th Readiness Region A2, Department Public Works, Fort Drum, NY.

His unwavering support, generosity, and strength were evident in the successes of his three daughters, all of whom he was very proud. He had a dry and sarcastic sense of humor, and often gave his closest loved ones and friends nicknames, reflecting both his sense of humor and quirky fondness. Other informal roles Mr. Patterson filled included Grill-master, Buffalo hot-wing and tuna salad extraordinaire, and foster hermit crab parent. His greatest joys came from reading, people-watching, and of course, drinking beer in his backyard and on travels with his wife to their favorite spots in Savannah, GA and 1000 Islands, NY. At home he was often found riding his coveted Kubota riding lawn mower; tag-teaming yardwork and other projects with his dear friend Mark Fleming; hosting loved ones in his backyard, grilling hamburgers and Sahlen's hotdogs; or browsing the history used-book section in the basement of The Book Corner, in downtown Niagara Falls.

Mr. Patterson is survived by his loving and fiery wife, Karen. Also, he is survived by his three daughters, Andrea (Ryan) Hindman of Alexandria, VA, Emily Theresa Hickey of Buffalo, NY, and Kelly Grace Patterson of Hubert, NC; his three grandchildren Gabriel Morgan and Liam Robert Hickey, and Evan Ives Hindman; stepsons Ryan William and Christopher Anthony Clement; his younger siblings Joyce Patterson and Michael (Sue) Patterson; several cousins, nieces, nephews, and his favorite uncle and favorite nephew; finally, and most lovingly survived by his and Karen's cuddly little buddies, dogs Scarlett and Bentley. Mr. Patterson is preceded in death by siblings Cheryl McEwen and Morgan Patterson; and is also preceded in death by his father Andrew.

Arrangements by Lane Funeral Home. Burial in the Cache Kiowa Comanche Apache Intertribal Cemetery in Cache, Oklahoma.
