HALL-INKPEN, Joan J. Jody (aka: Granny, Dodo, Chuckles) was born in Fairfield in 1930 and passed away on April 26th, 2021 in Spokane. She grew up on Spokane's South Hill with three brothers that spoiled her rotten. Her parents Jacob and Grace Powers were delighted to have a little girl. She graduated from Lewis and Clark in 1948 and dabbled in college classes at EWU, but became too homesick to stay away. She married Leon Hall from Newport, and had four children, Kevin (Julie), Jennifer, Brian (Trudy), and Liz (Todd). She moved from the North Side of Spokane to a farm in Colbert, where they made all kinds of new friends, wonderful memories and a lot of hard work, eventually moving back to the North Side of Spokane. Jody also has two grandsons, Stacy (Sasha) and Tyler Bruce. She was delighted with her first great-grandchild, Grey Rowan Everly Bruce. Sadly, our family had an unbearable loss with Grey to SIDS. Second great-grandchild, Vesta Grey Bruce, came this last May and brought Granny such joy and happiness. Jody married Robert Inkpen in 1991 and started an adventure of traveling and sailing. With this union we added more family with the extended Inkpen family. Jody was active at Northwood Presbyterian Church serving as a Deacon. She enjoyed several garden clubs, quilting clubs, she was a master gardener, and the President of the Jaycees. She loved all family events; Christmas and birthdays were always made to be a big deal, fully decorated and with amazing food. She loved reading, going to church, flower arranging, traveling, kitties, the color purple, shopping and her Deer Lake cabin. We also celebrate that she was a two-time cancer survivor. Everyone who met Jody, first comments would be, "she is so sweet and nice". She possessed a great smile and she would make everyone feel comfortable and loved. In celebration of her life we will be having a memorial on Saturday, May 8th, 11:00am at Northwood Presbyterian Church, 6721 N. Monroe, Spokane, WA. Please wear a mask and let's stay socially distanced. In Jody's memory, please consider donating to Givetostopsids.org., or via mail: Aaron Matthew SIDS Research Guild at Seattle Children's 8167 West Mercer Way, Mercer Island, WA 98040.
