Johnnie Daniel Baker



Johnnie Daniel (J.D.) Baker, age 87, went to be with the Lord on Sunday, May 2, 2021, in Angleton. He was born on August 22, 1933 in Yoakum, Texas to Johnnie B and Thelma Hart Baker.

He is preceded in death by his parents, his wife, Floydry Baker, his sister, Vivian Mancuso, and his son-in-law, David Louwerse. He is survived by his daughters, Charlotte LaVerne, Cindy (Rodney) Davis, Patti Louwerse, son Timothy (Melissa) Baker and step-sons Ricky (Joan) Leger and Dwayne (Kim) Leger, 14 grandchildren and 21 great-grandchildren.

Johnnie was a veteran of the US Army and received his Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering from the University of Houston. He worked as a contractor at Dow Chemical for many years. He loved his children and grandchildren and thoroughly enjoyed his great-grandchildren. He will be dearly missed by his family and friends.

Funeral services will be at 11:00 am on Thursday, May 6, 2021, at Stroud Funeral Home in Clute. Burial will follow at Brazoria Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Brent Davis, Aaron Davis, Zane Kallus, John Louwerse, Daniel LaVerne, Brendan Baker. Honorary pallbearers include Corey Dowty, Joe Harris, Ricky Leger, Dwayne Leger, Colton Leger and Isaac Miller.
