Betty was born Sept. 9, 1925, to Twila (Miller) Stokes and Clem M. Stokes. On June 30, 1943, she married her husband, the late Frank V. Sherman, who passed away Jan. 1, 1998.
Betty was a graduate of Sharon High School. She was a former member of the First Presbyterian Church in Sharpsville, where she was a very active member of the church including teaching Sunday school for many years.
Betty retired from the Sharpsville Area School District as head of Seventh Street School cafeteria.
She was a lifelong member of the Order of Eastern Star.
Betty loved dancing and traveling with her husband, Frank. She also loved music, particularly hymns and country music.
She was an excellent cook and baker. She especially enjoyed baking very fancy cookies at Christmas time for her family. She loved spending time with her children and grandchildren.
Betty is survived by her sons, Rev. Frank M. (Becky) Sherman of Martinsburg, W.Va.; Albert C. (Kathy) Sherman of New Port Richey, Fla.; daughter, Twila R. Sisk of Tallahassee, Fla.; son, Stephen J. (Kathie) Sherman of Transfer; her grandchildren, David (Serena) Dixon, Beth Ann Dixon, Albert Sherman, Lori (AJ) Lievre, Jason (Joelisa) Sherman, Elizabeth (Christopher) Sullivan, Stephen J. (Angelia) Sherman II, and Christopher Sisk; and eight great-grandchildren.
Betty was preceded in death by her husband, Frank V. Sherman; infant sister, Dorothy; infant brother, Robert; and her parents.
