Ralph Lotspeich, born 15 Feb 1781 in Culpepper Virginia, died 15 June 1813 in London Ohio was an early Methodist circuit preacher in Kentucky and Ohio. Ralph was a contemporary and mentor of the famous circuit preacher, Peter Cartwright earning him a brief mention in Cartwright's autobiography.

Ralph was known to become emotional during his sermons which earned him the title "The Weeping Prophet".

Sources provide conflicting dates on Ralph's death referencing both 15 and 16 June 1813. It is likely that he died on 15 June and his body was transported to property donated by White Brown in Deerfield Township, Ohio as a public cemetery for burial where he was interred on 16 June. This cemetery is probably not the same cemetery that is on the property of the chapel named in honor of White Brown known as Brown's Chapel also in Deerfield Township.

The location of cemetery where Lotspeich is buried is no longer known, and apparently by the turn of the 20th century had fallen into significant disrepair with only two markers still standing, Ralph's and one of Lija Brown, a freed slave who had been in the employee of Mr. Brown. The state of disrepair of the cemetery is probably what motivated Ralph's grandson, W. Ralph Lotspeich, to move the grave marker to Oak Hill Cemetery in London, Ohio. Ralph preached frequently in the barn that later became Brown's Chapel Church as did many other early Methodists of note, including Francis Asbury, and considering his close relationship with White Brown, it is probable that the now defunct public cemetery is not far from the current church cemetery.

Some sources also state that Ralph began his ministry in Culpepper, Va, which conflicts with other sources which state that at an early age he moved with his parents to Tennessee. Methodist Episcopal documents seem to indicate that he spent the entirety of his ministry in the Western Conference rather than in Virginia.
