Joey worked in the food business and was of the Christian faith. He graduated from Cloudland High School, where he had excelled in football and basketball. Joey loved whittling on wood, the outdoors – especially camping and most importantly spending time with his family.
Those left to cherish his memory include his mother and stepfather, Brenda Pritchard and Teddy Hoilman, of the home; his wife of 13 years, Dawn Perkins; three daughters, Bailee Perkins, of Rock Hill, SC, Chloey Hudson, of Butler, TN and Destiny Reed, of Clarksville, TN; two sons, Nathan Reed, of Rock Hill, SC and Jerry "Jay" Reed and his fiancé, Shelly Spencer, of Blackburg, SC; two grandchildren, Braxton and Watson; one brother, Brandon Thompson and his fiancé, Cherokee Miller, of Elizabethton; two uncles, Randal Street, of Elizabethton and Billy Street and wife Missy, of Hampton; and his special friends, Ryan Honeycutt, Michelle Carden, Terry Hughes, Nikki Clawson, Eddie Miller and Mr. Glenn. Several nieces, nephews, great aunts and great uncles also survive.
