Robert R. Ritter, Sr., age 96 of McHenry, passed away on Saturday, May 1, surrounded by his loving family. He was born July 15, 1924 in Chicago, IL to Adolph and Elizabeth (Shellhorn) Ritter. He married the love of his life Lois Mae Simpson on October 4, 1947 in Chicago, IL at St. Philomena Catholic Church and they were happily married for 70 years.
He loved gardening, landscaping, boating and keeping the house in good order. He loved taking the 5th wheel to Florida, he was a boater in the Merchant Marine, and had 27 years in service to the City of Chicago. He is a proud veteran of WWII, and Grandpa of 12 and great grandpa. The organizations he belonged to were the Masons, Scottish rite, and Shriners and a member of the VFW and the American Legion.
Robert is survived by daughters: Elizabeth (William) Valko, Judith Ritter, Carol (Maynard) Ostrowski; son: Robert R. (Diane) Ritter, Jr.; Grandchildren: George, Andrew (Sara), Melanie, Amber, Anthony (Amy), Thomas (Heather), Jillian (Jim), Nicholas, Margaret, Robert III (Amy), Jaqueline (Lee) and, William; Great Grandchildren: Alexa, Noah Demetra, Drake, Alexis, Miranda, Elizabeth, Isabella, Christopher, Jackson, Greysen, Evan, Silas,Hazel Mae, Jillian, Robert IV, Charlie,and Wilder.
Robert is preceded in death by his loving wife Lois Mae, Parents: Adolph and Elizabeth Ritter, Great grandson: Ryker; Sisters: Loretta (Clarence) Gore, Florence Tabis.
