M. L. Burt

M. L. Burt was born on July 31, 1945, in Kosciusko, Mississippi. He was the third of twelve children born. M. L. was born to Haywood and Beatrice Burt and accepted Christ at an early age. He knew and loved the Lord.

M. L. started his early education in Kosciusko, Mississippi. In December 1960, the family moved to California where he continued his formal education at Freemont High School.

M. L. began working at an early age as a Masonry Construction Worker. M. L. remained a construction worker for 60 years. M. L. was a hard worker and even on days when he couldn't do the work he was good at giving orders to ensure the job was still completed.

In 1966, M. L. met Frances and the happy couple was married in 1975. Frances was the love of his life.

He worked hard to provide for his family and he did his best to ensure she was happy. They displayed a love for each other that words can't describe.

M. L. loved reminiscing about the good ol' days. He would joke often and most of the time he would laugh at his own jokes. M. L. loved to dance around the house with his family and sometimes by himself. His dance moves made him the life of every party.
M. L.'s favorite food to eat was Collard greens, pig feet, neck bones, and cornbread. M. L. lived a great life.

M. L. was called home to be with the Lord on April 18, 2021, around 11:00 p.m.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Haywood and Beatrice Burt; three siblings, Robert Ray Burt, William Earl Burt, and Shirley Ann Dorsey; two children Derrick Burt and Anthony Saulsberry.

M. L. leaves to cherish his memories, a beautiful wife, Frances Carolyn Burt; children: Yolanda Burt, M. L. Defonte Burt, Antoinette (Harold), Andre Saulsberry (Marcie), Emanuel, Tasha, Elijah, and Daniel Burt; daughter-in-law, Keina; God-daughter, Mya Bates; eight siblings: Dorothy Mallett (Lloyd) of Milwaukee, Wisconsin; Mary Robinson, Jackie Whitson, Myra Mitchell (Michael), Carl Burt (Ester), Michael Burt (Shirley) and Sylvia Burt of Oklahoma; sister-in-law, Edna Burt; one aunt, Virgil Burt; 13 grandchildren: Ikedra, Kamia (Milton), Andre, Jr., (Ashley) Derenique, Keith, Jeron, Brandi (Ernest), Paris, Derrion, Anthony, Tyler, Dylan, and Carter; 17 great-grandchildren: Jaylen, Tray, Justin, Kylee, Jayden, Jordan, Kali, Khai, Keith, III, Kamile, Jayce, Jaya, Riley, Noah, one unborn baby, Maison, and S. L.; 48 nieces and nephews and a host of great-niece, great-nephews, cousins, and friends.
