Margaret Williams Rodriguez, 99, of Virginia Beach, VA, left this world peacefully on April 29, 2021 as she was called to Heaven by her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. She was the matriarch of the Rodriguez Family and nothing brought her greater joy than her faith, family and friends.

Margaret was born in Elizabeth City, North Carolina in 1921 to George Taylor Williams and Nancy Whedbee Williams. She grew up on their family farm in Elizabeth City and as a senior in high school at age 16, she met and married her husband, Arnulfo " Arnold" Cruz Rodriguez , whom she was happily married to for 59 years. Early in their marriage they moved to Virginia.

Margaret was predeceased by her five siblings, her husband Arnold, her two eldest children, Arnold Cruz Rodriguez and Nancy Lowder, her son-in-law JC Lowder, her granddaughter Karen Lowder and grandson Todd Lowder.

Margaret will be greatly missed and will remain forever in the hearts of her surviving family, her son, Rod Rodriguez (Cindy) of Virginia Beach, her grandchildren Sharon Lee (Cliff), Mike Rodriguez (Bettina), Steve Rodriguez (Tammy), Tracie Mackey, Kelly McNicholas(Tom) and Renee Fackler (Cole). She is also survived by 12 great-grandchildren, all of whom she loved dearly and spent as much time as possible with, Sharon's sons, Brett and Bryan, Mike's daughter, Sophia, Steve's daughter, Lauren, Tracie's children, Cory, Mckenzie, Maddie and Conner, Kelly's children, Jordan and Michael, Renee's children, Ainslie and Cruz. She was also blessed with many special nieces, nephews and extended family that have remained close to her over the years.
As a woman of great faith, she spent the majority of her life as an active member of the church, first in Elizabeth City, then in Chesapeake where she lived most of her life, and in Virginia Beach for the last 22 years. Her most recent church being Bayside Baptist Church, is where she became closely bonded with her Sunday school class, The Faithful Group, an amazing group of women that she loved and took great comfort in seeing most Sundays until she was 96 and unable to attend.

Margaret was truly an angel on earth and she dedicated herself to her faith and her family. She was the strength and the light that always brought her family together, her favorite being Sunday "supper" after church. She was the quintessential southern cook and was happiest when she was surrounded by her family and could cook for them. Her home was always the most welcoming place you could be and she always saw the best in everyone. Her family and friends would describe her as loving, giving, faithful, strong and always there for the ones she loved or a friend in need. She was loved by many, young and old, because of the woman she was and that brought her many blessings through friendships and people who simply wanted the best for her.

The family would like to express their sincere gratitude to Dr. Gregory Warth for being so attentive and caring and the staff at Atria Assisted Living, where she received the loving care that she so deserved. And a special thanks to her dear friends , Beth Masencup, Debbie Massengale and Patsy Ward, all of whom would take time from their busy lives to visit her and bring her joy and companionship.

A celebration of life will be held at 2:00 pm, Saturday, May 8, 2021 at Oman Funeral Home & Crematory, 653 Cedar Road, Chesapeake, VA 23322. Pastor John Nixon will officiate. A reception will follow the service at the funeral home. Interment will be private. Friends are invited to sign the online guestbook and share memories at www.omanfh.com.
