Dorothy Katherine Parham (Burkleo) of Valley Springs, known to friends as "Dot", peacefully passed away on April 28, 2021, at the age of 100 in Jamestown, California. A California native, Dorothy spent time growing up between Monterey and San Francisco. After High School graduation Dorothy attended the International Beauty College of San Francisco.

In 1959, Dorothy married the love of her life Walter John "Jack" Parham, an auto mechanic with the San Francisco Police Department. Soon after, she began her own career as a beautician and opened Dorothy's Beauty Shop in the downstairs space of her San Francisco Home on Silver Avenue. Here they lived until they both retired and moved to the country home of their dreams in Valley Springs, California.

Dorothy loved her family dearly and especially loved to cook for them. She had a great affinity for all animals, rescuing a great many of them over the years. A natural green thumb, she loved gardening and was heavily involved in the African Violet Society where she won many awards for her violets. Dorothy loved God and served on many church committees and outreaches. She was a true artist, and enjoyed painting, sewing and other crafts. Along with her husband Jack, Dorothy could often be found traveling across the country with their dog Peppy, then Peppy #2 and then Peppy #3. They enjoyed camping, exploring, and searching for rocks and minerals.
