Roger Wayne Cook passed away April 30, 2021, in Conroe, TX. Roger was born in Great Bend, Kansas, on January 7, 1942, to parents Dencil and Gladys (Taylor) Cook.

His dad's job with Gulf Oil moved the family to various communities before they settled in Seminole where Roger excelled in almost every sport he tried. (He never liked baseball.) However, he made a name for himself leading the Seminole Chieftains at quarterback. Many years later when he was selected to be inducted into the Sports Hall of Fame, he was unable to attend because his younger daughter's wedding was the same weekend. It probably wouldn't have mattered….he never wanted to call attention to himself.

Roger married Debbie (Connally) October 17, 1981. They spent the early years of their marriage in Bartlesville, Oklahoma, before Debbie's job took them to Texas in 2001.

He spent many weekends at the lake, making great memories with family and friends. He was an avid golfer during much of his life, but fishing became his true passion over the last fifteen or so years. He went fishing as often as he could with friends and family. One of the greatest joys of his life was being able to spend the summer months at their lake house on Grand Lake. His cousin, Edee (Erna Dee) Rogers and her husband, Carl, were neighbors. After a day of fishing for the guys, they had dinner together every night and ended the evening with "game night".

Roger is survived by his wife of 39 years Debbie (Connally); their daughter, Lindsey Cook and husband Aaron Kristopeit of Edmond, OK. Also left to cherish his memory are son, Roger Cook and wife Michelle of Jenks, OK; son, Chris Cook of Blue Spring, MO; and daughter, Callie Fursse and husband Keoni of Maui, HI; sister, Susan Miller and husband Johnny of Edmond, OK; four grandchildren Jenna, Brylie, Kailani and Kale'a, two nieces, many cousins, other family, and close friends.

Funeral Services will be held on Saturday, May 8, 2021, at 11:00 AM, at Leonard Marker Funeral Home in Bixby, OK. Burial will follow at Bixby Cemetery. If you knew him well, you know he was not a fan of dressing up. We are asking everyone to wear their best fishing attire, golf attire, or collegiate apparel.

In lieu of flowers, the family is requesting donations be made to a scholarship that has been set up in his name to support students in the PGA Golf Management Program at The University of Central Oklahoma. Please see the donation link listed below.
