Charles E. Howell, 72, of Clinton Township, Waymart, passed away peacefully, after an illness on Tuesday morning, May 4, 2021, at home.

Born December 6, 1948 in Carbondale, he was the son of the late Edward C. and Evelyn (Eltz) Howell.

Just as his father did, and his father before him, Charlie lived his entire life on the family farm, under the mountain, just north of Waymart. He graduated from Waymart High School in 1966. Charlie was a lifelong member of the Calvary United Methodist Church in Waymart; he also enjoyed attending South Clinton Baptist Church. Charlie was a very intelligent man who had the strength of mind, spirit and body to be a self-sustaining, hard-working dairy farmer for most of his life. He was a member of the Dairylea Cooperative and the Wayne-Pike County Farm Bureau.

Charlie had a quick wit and always enjoyed good humor and the company of others. Although he lived a simple life in the only place he ever knew as home, his impact on others had a profound influence. We will all miss his friendly wave, and never forget his iconic smile.

He is survived by his sister, Darlene Lewis and her husband John; his brother, Randy L. Howell and his wife Christine, all of Clinton Township, Waymart; nieces and nephews: Aaron Lewis, Joshua Lewis, Rebekah Ihlefeldt, Jacob Lewis, Grace Miller, and Edward Howell; several great-nieces; great-nephews; cousins; relatives; and friends.

He was also preceded in death by a sister-in-law, Robyn Shaffer Howell.
