Born Helen Louise Fry March 12, 1951, in Elimsport to James Albert Fry and Isabel Florence Hill Fry, was called home to the loving arms of her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ on April 8, 2021.
A graduate of Montgomery High School, Helen excelled in most everything she set her mind and work ethic to. She made it her mission to keep learning and earned many additional certifications over her career. Working mostly in the Social Services arena, she served at the Children's Aide Society of Chambersburg, Pa., as the Activities Director for the Upper Adams Senior Center in Biglerville, Pa., as an Ombudsman for the elderly in nursing homes and assisted living sites and Admissions Coordinator and Social Services Director at the Caledonia Manor Nursing Home in Fayetteville, Pa. She was also a part-time correspondent for the Gettysburg Times, writing numerous articles about senior citizens.
She was predeceased by her parents; her sisters, Gloria June Fry, Kay Fry and Shirley Kibler; her brother, David Leroy Fry, Sr. and by her beloved husband, Gary W. Cook in 2001, with whom she will be laid to rest at Cedar Lawn Memorial Park, in Hagerstown, Md. Together they operated Cumberland Valley Fabricators, Inc. in Hagerstown, Md. until his decease when she took over operations until the business was sold. In 2011, Helen moved to Hughesville to be closer to her siblings.
She is survived by her two daughters, Dawn Michelle Fox Bird and Nicole Marie Fox Tacelosky; two grandchildren, Codee Tyler Cook and Jessica Renee Bird; a granddaughter-in-law Lindsay Cook and a great-grandchild, Cooper Cook, whom she thought hung the moon for his unconditional love and devotion; her sisters, Marilyn J. Schooley, Vicki Rae Eisenhower, Joy Ann Force, Carolyn M. Hartranft, Mary Lou Bowers and brothers, Terry James Fry, James Albert Fry and Richard L. Bolton.
She was a daughter, sister, wife, mother, aunt, grandmother, great-grandmother, friend, confidant, mentor, caretaker, advocate and prayer warrior. Her favorite Bible verses were: Isaiah 55:8-11 and Jeremiah 29:11-13. Her favorite Hymns were: I'll Fly Away, No One Ever Cared For Me Like Jesus and Amazing Grace. May we all be as worthy to enter the Kingdom of Heaven when we are called home.
Due to current restrictions a small graveside memorial with family will be held when she is laid to rest.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the First Baptist Church-Elimsport, 16818 Pennsylvania 44, Allenwood, PA 17810 where she attended and was a member, in their sponsoring of missionaries.
