He was a resident of Chattanooga for 33 years where he attended the Calvary Church Assembly of God in East Ridge. Smitty retired in 2005 from Roadtec with 22 years of service. His passions in life were his family, bowling, NASCAR, and his dog, Amber Jo.
He was preceded in death by his parents, John and Laura Smith; three brothers, and one sister.
Survivors include his wife of 54 years, Joan M. Smith; sister, Martha Richards of Newcomerstown, Oh.; brother, Walter Smith of Elizabeth, W.V.; and several nieces and nephews.
