Katherine Louise (Maas) Sharp, 83, of Evansville, Indiana, passed away Sunday, May 2, 2021, at her home. Katherine was born in Fort Branch, Indiana on September 1, 1937, to the late Artie and Helen (Magenheimer) Maas.

She loved her job teaching kindergarten and first grade at Owensville Elementary School for 27 1/2 years. During her retirement she had a passion for sewing. In addition to making many regular sized quilts, she designed and made over 800 quilt tops that her sewing group in Princeton quilted and distributed to the children at St. Judes, Riley Hospitals, and the Ronald McDonald House. She also made and designed little dresses for girls in Africa, pillow cases for Riley, quilts with Bible verses for nursing homes, walker caddies, and so much more. During the COVID-19 pandemic, she made over 1000 masks for medical, personal, Methodist Childrens Home, and friends. She refused to accept monies for any of this, saying that if she accepted money it would be a job. It was her passion. Most of all she was proud of her family. She had the three best children, the three best in-laws and the six greatest grandchildren.

Katherine is survived by her husband of 62 years, James Sharp of Evansville, IN; daughter, Jayme Williams (Jon) of Ft. Branch IN; sons, Dr. Scott Sharp (Rhonda) of Indianapolis, IN and Rick Sharp (Kim) of Kendallville, IN; brother, Charles Maas; granddaughters, Nicole Sharp, Katie Sharp, and Charlotte Williams; and grandsons, Chad Sharp, Michael Sharp, and Aidan Williams.

Katherine was preceded in death by her parents; and brother, Robert Maas.

A celebration of Katherine's life will be held at 11:00 am on Thursday, May 6, 2021, at Centenary United Methodist Church, 14340 Old State Rd., Evansville, IN 47725, with Pastor Tim Powers officiating.
