Born January 13, 1930 in Burnham, she was the daughter of the late Leon Dewey and Rosie Mae Host.
In addition to her parents, she was also preceded in death by her loving husband, William W. Carter, Jr.; siblings, Evelyn G. Bedlyon, Betty M. Naylor and Napoleon B. Host and a great-granddaughter, Melissa Collins.
Nancy is survived by her children, Connie Mae Hassinger, and Brenda McCardle, all of Lewistown; grandchildren, Brian Hassinger, Terry "Lynn" Hassinger, Robert Corson, and Sgt. First Class William Corson; great-grandchildren, Paige Yohn, Angela Myers, Hayley Corson, Conner D. Stewart, Alexis Corson, Aroum Corson, Dekoda Stewart, Xzavier Hassinger and Alex Corson; great-great-granddaughter, Karley Yohn and a sister Myrtle Ruth McNitt.
Nancy was an active member of Lewistown Presbyterian Church serving as a trustee and a member of the happy worker club.
Earlier in life, Nancy was employed at Beavers Bakery, Muphy's 5 and 1-, Quigley's Drug Store, Headings Drug Store, The Jack and Jill Shop, The Hello Shop, Arrow Shirt Factory, American Viscose, Echo, Jamesway and retired from the Mifflin County School District as a custodian. She was the Lewistown Bicentennial Queen in 1989 and a member of The Red Hat Society. She served as president of the AFL Local Union, PTA Juniata Terrace and Mifflin County School District.
A funeral service in loving memory of Nancy will be held at 7:00 p.m. on Friday May 7, 2021 at King-Barr Funeral Home LLC, 120 Logan Street, Lewistown, with Rev Robert Zorn to officiate. There will be a viewing held at the funeral home from 6:00 p.m. Until time of service.
Interment will take place in Juniata Memorial Park at a later date.
