Elizabeth Ann (Alvey) James 69, passed away May 3, 2021 at her home surrounded by her loving family.

Beth was born August 16, 1951 to Ralph and Bernadine (Froehlich) Alvey. She was a 1969 graduate of Tell City High School. She married the love of her life, Ronald James on July 1, 1972. Together, they owned a farm and were active in the community of Leopold.

Beth and Ronnie had five children, Chad, Robby, Jami, Niki, and Keith. Beth helped with the Leopold Gang 4-H club for over 30 years and if it was July, she was at the 4-H fair. She was very active member at St. Augustine Catholic Church in Leopold serving as a Eucharistic minister, taught religious education classes, and helped with the church picnic.

Beth had been a member of the Daughters of Isabella before her health would no longer allow her to participate. She also served as a secretary to the Education Department at Branchville Correctional Facility for many years.

Family was the most important love of Beth's life. Following her children and grandchildren in their many activities gave her great joy. Beth and Ronnie entertained the Alvey and James families every Easter which was no small task. She loved to play games of all kinds but really enjoyed card games and Greedy dice games. Jigsaw puzzles were always on a table to be worked and she was an excellent seamstress. At family weddings she loved to dance and music was soothing to her.

Beth was preceded in death by her parents, Ralph and Bernadine Alvey; her in-laws, Willard and Myrtle James; a grandson, Noah James; her brother-in-law Larry James; sisters-in-laws, Tina Purcell, Karen Ann Etienne, and Cheryl Lynn Redden and a niece, Holly Finley Clark.

Beth is survived by her husband Ronnie of Leopold, her children Chad James of Owensboro, KY, Robby (Amy) James of Boonville, Jami (Rodney) Smith of Bettendorf, IA, Niki (Doug) Brown of France, and Keith (Jennifer) James of Tell City; her grandchildren Taylor and Parker James, Eli and Abigail James, Davin, Trenton and Alea Smith, Logan, Caitlyn, Hayden, Isabelle Brown, and Owen and Brennan James; her siblings Terry (Linda) Alvey, Mona (Joe) Goffinet, Byron (Lucy) Alvey, Susan (Tom) Hughes, Ralph (Marilyn) Alvey, David (Patsy) Alvey, Patricia (Jim) Huffman, Bill (Wendy) Alvey, Paul (Ginger) Alvey, Julie (Davies) Bellamy, Chris (Carol) Alvey, Jackie (Jerry) Witvoet, Kevin (Diane) Alvey and numerous brothers- and sisters-in-laws, nieces and nephews, uncles and aunts and cousins.
