SOUTH HUTCHINSON - Earl T. Miller, 85, of South Hutchinson, died May 21, 2007, at Hutchinson Hospital.

He was born July 23, 1921, in Partridge, the son of Frank Z. and Gladys Hambrick Miller. He was a lifetime Reno County resident. He attended Partridge schools. He worked at Cessna Aircraft-Hydraulic Division. He was in the U.S. Army and served in World War II, receiving a Purple Heart, and was wounded in a battle in France on Nov. 19, 1944. Because of the intense battle, he was not picked up, but evacuated to England, where he was hospitalized until March 15, 1945. He was honorably discharged from the Army on Jan. 8, 1946.

He was a member of Arlington Presbyterian Church. He also was an elder at the church, Sunday school teacher, Scout Master for Troop No. 34, Arlington, Sunday school superintendent, and Disabled American Veterans.

On Oct. 1, 1941, he married Beryl Barnett in Partridge. She died Dec. 5, 2006.

Survivors include: one son, Tom Miller and wife, Gwen, Escondido, Calif.; two brothers, Lewis Miller, Nuevo, Calif., and Bill Miller, Hutchinson; two grandchildren, Robin Burke, Natchitoches, La., and Steven Miller, Escondido, Calif.; and two great grandchildren, Amanda and Brianna Burke, Natchitoches, La.

He was preceded in death by his parents; four brothers, Austin, Harold, Lloyd and Walter; and one sister, Cora Miller Gregory.

Funeral service will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at Arlington Presbyterian Church, with the Rev. Donald L. Ray presiding. Friends may call 1 to 9 p.m. Thursday and from 9 to 9 p.m. Friday at Elliott Mortuary, Hutchinson. Family will receive friends from 7 to 8 p.m. Friday at Elliott Mortuary, Hutchinson. Burial will be in Partridge Cemetery, Partridge, with military rites provided by Fort Riley Honor Guard.
