Catherine L. "Kate" Myers, 84, of Flat Rock, IL, died May 2, 2021, at Crawford Memorial Hospital in Robinson, IL. She was born on July 27, 1936, in Hunt City Township, rural Jasper County, IL, the daughter of Morton Vern Lowe and Lulu Pearl (Mann) Lowe, both of whom preceded her in death. She was also preceded in death by her father-in-law & mother-in-law, William Andy Myers & Ora L. (Mason) Myers; by her children, Danny Joe Myers, Patricia Monroe Conrad, and Linda Myers; as well as a number of brothers and sisters.

She is survived by her husband of nearly 64 years, Dean Myers; by her sons, Gary Matheney and Don Matheney; by her daughter & son-in-law, Verna & James Patterson; by her grandchildren, Millie McGee, Garry Otey, Jr., James Michael Patterson, Josh Matheney, Matthew Patterson, and Ryne Matheney; by her step-grandchildren, Willy Myers and Dottie Shields; by her great-grandchildren, Mykaela, Mykenna, Madison, Dakota, Houston, Katherine, Trevor, Daniel, and Sophia; as well as several nieces and nephews.

Kate grew up in the Oblong area, where her father worked in the oil fields. On May 28, 1957, she married Dean Myers, and from there on, her life was dedicated to tending to her house and all those who called it" home". As a young family, they enjoyed camping and fishing together. One of her great passions in life was listening to Dean and company play bluegrass, and this provided her with countless hours of enjoyment. As she aged, she also gained an interest in Bingo, to the point that she and Verna became staples at the Lawrenceville V.F.W., having played there nearly every Friday.

Though these things all brought Kate joy, it was her family that brought life to her living. The twilight years of her life were blessed with the addition of grandkids and great-grandkids, who were each the apple of their grandma's eye. They, as well as anyone else fortunate enough to know her, could attest to her sassy nature! Though she could be more than a little feisty at times, it was evident that Kate loved from the deepest part of her being. We are thankful for her life and for the love she so freely gave. That same love lives on as her legacy, stirring within our hearts until we meet again.

A graveside service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Thursday, May 6th, at the Oblong Cemetery.
