Gary was a second generation owner of Hoover Sand and Gravel and Gary L. Hoover Trucking. He was a member of North East Lodge 399 F. & A.M., Zem Zem Shrine and a Royal Order of the Jester, Court #58.
Survivors include his wife, Candy Hoover; three children, Chris Perkins (Rick), Kelly Kent (James) and Greg Hoover (Laura); two stepchildren, Todd Huck (Beth) and Stephanie Zdunczyk (Tom); one sister, Jeannie Fuller; one brother, Don Hoover; six grandchildren, Taylor and Morgan Perkins, Joshua and Kayla Kent, and Ashley and Madison Hoover; and one great-granddaughter, Parker Kent.
In addition to his parents, Gary was preceded in death by his former wife, Diane Hoover.
The family would like to extend a special thanks to the UPMC Family Hospice.
Friends will be received at the South Harborcreek United Methodist Church, 7929 McGill Road, on Friday from 10:30 am until the time of the Memorial Service celebrating Gary's life at noon. The North East Lodge #399 will open with a Masonic Service followed by the Memorial Service conducted by Rev. Keith McGarvey. Interment will follow at South Harborcreek Cemetery.
Gary requested, in lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Shriner's Hospitals for Children-Erie, 1645 West 8th Street, Erie, PA 16505.
