Frances C. Allen, age 102, passed away in the early morning hours of April 27, 2021, in the comfort of her home, surrounded by her family. She was born December 26, 1918, in Shawnee Township, Kansas, to her parents Harry James Colley and Frances Daisy Crowe. She enlisted in the U.S. Navy on October 7, 1943, during WWII. She served as a Pharmacist Mate for two years and received an Honorable Discharge on 26 October 1945. She then married Newell Arthur Call on December 3, 1947, and they are the parents of three children, Jeff L. Call, Frances Jo Call (Lavin), and James N.Call. Newell passed away on September 13, 1961, leaving Fran to raise their three children, single-handedly, while also working full-time to provide for them. She married the late Bruce W. Allen on December 15, 1981, in Salt Lake City, Utah.

Fran was a gourmet cook and baker and loved adorning family and friends with homemade bread, jams, and jellies of all kinds and flavors. She loved to sew, knit and cross-stitch, and her baby sweaters, blankets, quilts, and afghans are truly a work of art, and they can be found in the homes of each and every family member and many friends.
It was a tradition for her great-grandchildren to receive a knitted afghan, made in their favorite color, at the time of their High School Graduation. And, knowing that she may not live long enough to see all of her great-grandchildren graduate, she went ahead and knitted an afghan for the younger ones, some still infants, and personally presented them to them, in a drive-by manner, during 2020 and the Covid pandemic. Although she had multiple talents, the one that she excelled at, and loved most, was being the best Wife, Mother, Mother-in-law, Grandmother, Great Grandmother, Great-Great-Grandmother and special friend that she could possibly be her entire life.

Fran is survived by her son Jeff, daughter Jo (Bob Lavin), son Jim and his wife Lesa, Sister, Nean Dorris, 8 grandchildren, 20 great-grandchildren, and 3-great-great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husbands Newell Call and Bruce Allen, four sisters, one brother, and three granddaughters.

Whenever Fran was asked about her secret to a long life, she would simply respond by saying, "I Choose To Be Happy!" And she could have easily added to that, "And to Make Others Happy Also!'

A Graveside Service will be held on Tuesday, May 4, 2021, at 12:00 noon, at the Memorial Redwood Cemetery, located at 6500 S. Redwood Road, West Jordan, Utah 84088. There will be no viewing per her wishes. There are currently no Covid related restrictions for outside gatherings at the cemetery. However, if you are attending, please feel free to take whatever precautions you are comfortable with. And, please bring your
own chairs, as none will be provided by the cemetery.
