Hattie married Frederick Waterman Backus on 10 Nov 1886. She had her only child Harriet May Backus in Jan 1888. She died the following month. The infant Harriet was adopted by her aunt Laura Jane (Jennie) Backus and her husband Daniel Webster Beebe. She then went by the name Hattie Beebe. In 1900 she was living in Meriden, CT, with Jennie and Daniel Webster Beebe. In 1910, after Jennie died, she was living with her maternal grandparents, Charles and Jennie Clark, and her aunt Nellie E. Clark in Hartford, CT. She married William Cornish in NY in 1920 and had 2 sons. (I recently learned the latter from one of her descendants. Thank you!!)
