Preceded in death by parents; sisters, Jean Conrad and Patricia Shaffer; and brothers, David and Leo Baker, and an infant brother, Wilfred.
Survived by loving wife of 64 years, Gloria (Moore) Baker; children, Deborah (Raymond) Shrift, Portage; Wayne (Aida) Baker, Garrettsville, OH; and Denise Baker (Joe DeSalvo), Ebensburg; five grandchildren and five great-grandchildren. Also survived by sisters, Margaret Croyle, Flinton; Barbara Glessner, Harrisburg; Dorothy Trybus, OK; and sisters-in-law, Ethel Baker, Hastings; Catherine "Kitty" Baker, Northern Cambria; and Theresa Moore, Carrolltown.
Retired coalminer from Barnes & Tucker Mine 24. Member of St. Benedict Catholic Church, Carrolltown.
"Howd" was very proud of the Carrolltown community and worked tirelessly as a volunteer for St. Vincent de Paul Food Pantry, receiving an award for 16 years of service.
Family and friends are invited to a memorial mass which will be celebrated at 10:00 a.m. Friday, June 4, 2021, at St. Benedict Catholic Church, Carrolltown. Fr. Jude Brady, OSB, celebrant. Committal, church cemetery.
