Daughter of Jonah Baxley Phillips and Chester White Phillips. She retired from the State of Georgia Department of Human Services after many years. She was a member of Deep Creek Baptist Church, and she served as Sunday school teacher, WMU director, Acteens director, and Girls in Action director. She was preceded in death by her parents; son, Chad Mitchell Garner; siblings, Clyde (Gladys) Phillips, Arthur (Vivian) Phillips, Noah (JoAnn) Phillips, Lillie Mae Webb, Leon Phillips, and Jimmy Phillips; brother-in-law, Dean Bradford; and sisters-in-law, Anna Simmons and Myrtle Mealor. She is survived by her husband Charles Ray; daughter, Stephanie Garner Benson and her husband, Jeff of Bowman; granddaughters, Kelsey Thomas Menendez and her husband, Gabe and Hayden Marie Benson; sisters, Martha Phillips, Joyce Bradford, and Loretta (Lamar) Freeman; siblings-in-law, Homer Webb, Lynda Phillips, Mary Helen Phillips, Brenda (Junior) Scarborough, Beverly Woods, Dale Garner, Ricky Garner, and David Garner.
