Born in Little Rock, Arkansas, Anna was a private practical nurse. In 1960 she was elected ot the 26th Ward, serving one term as the first Black Democratic Committeewoman. She was a delegate to the 1960 Democratic Convention where she placed the name of John F. Kennedy in nomination for President of the United States. Through the years she continued to work in the community, forming the group Community Sisters.
