Michael had many names like Mike or Driver, but his favorite name was Pepa. Michael was the third child of the late Andy Thomas, Jr., and Viola Frazier Thomas in Hartsville, South Carolina. He was a proud graduate of Butler High School with the class of 1976. He received additional training from Florence – Darlington Technical College. Michael married his high school sweetheart, Sharron Rogers, and they were married for 42 years. From this union, two children were born, LaVaciette and Tony.

Michael grew up attending The Church in the Lord Jesus Christ of the Apostolic Faith, Inc. Later, as an adult, he rededicated his life to Christ and joined Mt. Calvary AME Church. He immediately became a faithful worker and member of the church, where he served on the Usher Board and was a Trustee. In 2008, he relocated to Edmond, OK, and joined Allen Chapel AME Church in Oklahoma City, OK. There, he was received with open arms and jumped right into working for Christ. He again served as a member of the Usher Board and was a church, Stewart.

Michael was employed with RBC for over 43 years. He began in Hartsville, SC, and at the time of his passing, he had been the plant manager at RBC Oklahoma for the past 13 years.
