A Celebration of Life Service will be held at 11 a.m. on May 10, 2021 at Messiah United Methodist Church, 1300 N. Beaver Street in York, with a viewing from 10-11 a.m. Burial will be in Mount Rose Cemetery in York, with full military honors provided by York County Veterans Honor Guard. Heffner Funeral Chapel & Crematory, Inc., 1551 Kenneth Rd. in York is assisting with the arrangements.
Mr. Thomas was born in York on October 29, 1931, the son of the late Howard F. and Edith (Waltemyer) Thomas. He worked as an upholsterer for T.R. Taylor and Company in York. He was a gifted craftsman who specialized in antique furniture upholstering in his free time.
Mr. Thomas was a 50+ year member of Messiah United Methodist Church and a member of the Viking Club. He attended Atrious Warner Machinist School. He enjoyed fishing, going to the beach, and attending his grandchildren's sporting events. He served in the US Army in the Korean War.
Mr. Thomas leaves three daughters, Diana Patrizio and her husband John of York, Judy Newton and her husband Kevin of York, and Cathy Thomas of York; four grandchildren, Anthony Patrizio and his wife Ashley of York, Aleisha Hake and her husband Jason of York, Mark Newton and his wife Donna of Broomall, PA and Kyle Newton and his wife Rachael of Lancaster; six great grandchildren, Landon, Camryn, Evan, Chloe, Georgia, and Lennon; and a sister, Delores Smith of Cape Coral, FL.
