Dr Matthew Walker III was born on November 10, 1964, the son of Matthew Walker Jr (1941-2016) and Ramona ( -- ) (Walker) Bard.

He was married to Anna -- .

Matthew resided and served for many years in Boston, New York and Nashville. He was a Professor of Biomedical Engineering, a Professor of Radiology and Radiological Sciences and the Associate Director of the Medical Innovators Development Program at Vanderbilt University in Nashville. He also considered it a great honor to be one among Fellows for the American Institute for Medical and Biological Engineering (AIMBE).

Having traveled throughout the world professionally as well as in service to several civic and community organizations and boards, he was known as a gifted giant in his field. He was especially respected as a servant for the Matthew Walker Comprehensive Health Center Board of Directors, named in honor of his grandfather Dr Matthew Walker Sr.

In Nashville, he was 56 years old and married when he passed away on April 24, 2021.

Survivors included his wife, a name-sake son, his mother Ramona Bard and his sister.

Funeral Services were held at Schrader Lane Church of Christ, and burial was in historic Greenwood Cemetery Main.
