He was born on December 17, 1925 to George and Alice Robinson in Philadelphia.
Just after turning seventeen and prior to graduating high school, Robbie enlisted in the U.S. Army. Telling how he altered his identification to join was one of his favorite stories. After Field - Medic training at Camp Barkley in Texas, he joined the 216th Medical Unit at Camp Chaffee and was soon fighting in World War II with the 16th Armored Division.
After the war, he entered the Pennsylvania National Guard and served with the 28th Division Artillery. He attained the rank of Sergeant First Class prior to appointment as Warrant Officer Junior Grade in June 1950.
Robbie was recalled to active duty in September 1950, serving at Camp Atterbury, Indiana and Neu Ulm, Reinhart, Kaserne, Germany with the 107th Field Artillery Battalion. He separated from active duty in July 1952 then served as Personnel Officer and later Supply Officer with the 108th Field Artillery Battalion until September 1975. His final assignment was with the 28th Material Management Center, Division Property Book Office as Team Chief, Warrant Officer Grade 4 until retirement at Fort Indiantown Gap in December 1985.
He loved traveling and spent many years roaming the country.
Robbie was a proud life-time member of the 16th Armored Division Association and the 28th Infantry Division Association where he participated in and enjoyed numerous functions and reunions.
He had many interests: crossword puzzles, reading, and more recently, playing Bingo with new friends at Country Meadows Retirement Community in Hershey. Staff and residents alike loved him there (well, maybe not his Bingo partners as he seemed to win a lot!).
In addition to his parents, Robbie was preceded in death by his wife: Isabella (Kidd) Robinson; his daughter: Isabella Robinson - Mitnick; and, his long-time companion: Jane Smith.
He is survived by his devoted son: Jim (Terri); his adored granddaughter: Molly; his adored grandson: Jamie; his beloved son-in-law: Dr. Neil Mitnick; and, his loving nephews: Mike (Linda) and Rick (Becky) Robinson.
There will be a private Committal Service held in Indiantown Gap National Cemetery.
