Obituary for VIRGINIA MARY HARRIS

Virginia Mary Simmons Harris, also known to many as "Ginsel" went to be with her Lord and Savior on Thursday afternoon, April 29, 2021, surrounded by her family. Virginia worked for 23 years and retired from Jiffee Mart. She was preceded in death by her husband of 71 years, June Harris; son, James Harris; parents, Clay and Lottie Simmons of Sugar Grove, WV; her sister, Mildred Crummett and Russell; brother, Hershel Simmons and Clora, brother, Raymond Simmons and Elizabeth, sister, Edna Clae Wilson and Warren, and brother, Eugene Simmons and Claudette.

Survived by daughter, Mary June Johnson and Billy; daughter, Nancy Gail Harrison and Charlie; daughter, Linda Sue Decker and Scott; and daughter-in-law, Anne Harris; seven grandchildren; 13 great grandchildren; five great, great grandchildren, all in which she adored and loved with all her heart; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Virginia was a mother to about 50 kids during her lifetime. She loved to travel, enjoyed the beach, loved going out to eat and riding around looking at Christmas lights. She loved peanut M & M's and anything sweet! She was faithful to read her Bible daily. She loved playing games with her grandchildren and was blessed to have been able to care for her first grandchild, Kayla Dawn until she started school.

A Celebration of Life will be conducted at 1 p.m. Wednesday, May 5, 2021, in the Henry Funeral Home Chapel. Burial will follow in Augusta Memorial Park.

Active pallbearers will be Jeff Johnson, Joshua Johnson, Bradley Harris, Bryce Morris, Joshua Johnson, Jr., Darius Harris, Zachary Johnson, and Michael Harrison.

The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service in the funeral home.

The family would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to the staff at The Retreat in Fishersville for the loving care given to our mother and grandmother during this past year with COVID when family could not visit. The stories you shared with us brought us much comfort and we thank you.

Donations may be made to St. Jude Children's Hospital.
