She was born September 21, 1925, in Alton, the daughter of the late William and Alma (McGarvey) Hopper.
She was a seamstress for many years and was owner of Jackie's Drapery's in Alton for over 45 years.
On January 23, 1942, in St. Charles, Missouri, she married James L. "Bud" Martin, and he preceded her in death on October 27, 2012.
Surviving are one daughter, Cynthia J. Chestnut of St. Louis, and one son, James M. Martin of St. Louis, six grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by one brother and one sister.
Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, June 7, 2017 at Gent Funeral Home in Alton, where funeral services will be at 11 a.m. on Thursday, June 8, 2017, with Reverend Andre' Dobson officiating.
Burial will be at Valhalla Memorial Park in Godfrey.
Memorials may be made to Calvary Baptist Church where she was a member.
