Maxine Morris, 94, of West Frankfort passed away on Wednesday April 28, 2021 in DuQuoin Nursing and Rehab at 8:00am. Maxine was born on August 16, 1926 in West Frankfort to Dan "Bruno" and Anna (Chance) Broy Sr.
She was of the Christian faith and was an active Democrat. She previously worked at the Ben Franklin Store and the Market Basket in West Frankfort, the West Frankfort Library, and the Franklin-Williamson County Workshop. She enjoyed reading and crocheting. She brought beauty to the family. Red lipstick and black hair are two things that mark her appearance. She notes that red was her favorite color when she was younger, but now, at age 94, she leans more towards pastel colors….except for the red lipstick.
She married husband Vernon Morris Jr. on August 26,1944 and he preceded her in death on January 2, 1977. She is also preceded by parents, brother Danny Broy Jr., and sisters Kathleen Rutt and Marjune Broy.
Maxine is survived by her sons Randy Morris (Dale Snyder) and Vernon (Rocky) Morris III (Terrie); grandchildren Alicia (Christopher) Niemeyer, Lacy Morris, Tristan (Alyssa) Morris, Christopher Morris, Isaac (Jennifer) Morris, Mindy (Zach) Clark, Meridy (John) Cooksey, and Preston (Megan) Deason; 16 great-grandchildren; and lifelong friend Edith Massey.
Funeral services will be held on Saturday May 1, 2021 in the Union Funeral Home-West Frankfort at 1:00pm. Interment will be in the Boner Cemetery in West Frankfort. Visitation will be from 11:00am-1:00pm prior to the service.
