Sue Peter Jones, 88, passed away November 12, 2018 following a stroke.
She is survived by her loving and devoted husband of 63 years, William S. Jones (Bill).
She is also survived by two children, William Peter Jones (Carol), and Robin D. Jones; three grandchildren, William Timothy Jones, Dylan Jones, and Scott Jones; as well as one brother, Paul B. Peter (Camille).
Sue and Bill have been residents of Shenandoah Valley Westminster Canterbury since 1998, greatly enjoying their time there as well as exploring the Blue Ridge Mountains and attending musicals at Shenandoah Summer Musical Theatre, among many other activities.
Sue was a graduate of St Catherine's School in Richmond, VA and majored in chemistry at Hollins College, graduating in 1952. She received her Master's Degree in Library Science from Drexel University in Philadelphia around 1975 - bravely commuting to classes from our home in Wilmington, DE.
She was a librarian in the Fairfax County library system for over 20 years, finding answers to all of life's questions for the patrons of the Reston, Fairfax and Chantilly Public Libraries.
She was an avid reader and lover of books all her life, something she joyfully passed on to her children, grandchildren and many friends and acquaintances.
She has been a dedicated member of Christ Episcopal Church in Winchester. She worked in the Treasure Box for many years, helped maintain the Prayer List, and tried heroically to organize the ever evolving church library.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to weta.org or any needy public library of your choice.
A memorial service will be held at Christ Episcopal Church, 114 West Boscawen, Winchester VA at 2 p.m. Saturday, November 17.
