Willie was the son of Artis Adams and Mae Ellen Brown Adams. He was educated in the Dooly County School System. He was employed with Ebba Iron in Cordele, Georgia for several years until his retirement.
He was married to Bernice Adams.

4 Sisters: Mary Ruth Hill, Lucille Caldwell, Martha Howell and Willie Mae Holmes.
