Jane Hurd Cross, 89, a resident of National Health Care in Mauldin, SC, and a former resident of Bailey Manor, Clinton, SC, went to be with her Savior, October 28, 2007.

Born in Dunmore, PA, she was the daughter of the late James H. Hurd and Martha Warfel Hurd. Mrs. Cross was a graduate of the Scranton Conservatory of Music, Scranton, PA, attended Houghton College, Houghton, NY, and Moody Bible Institute, Chicago, IL. She was a teacher of music and a choir director at the Delaware School for the Deaf. She was a charter member of Mitchell Road Presbyterian Church, Greenville, SC. Freely using her many gifts in support of her husband's ministry, Jane's greatest joy was telling the children in her 4 and 5 year old Sunday School Class about Jesus.

Preceding her in death were her husband, Dr. Thomas G. Cross, founding pastor of Mitchell Road Presbyterian Church, and a brother, James H. Hurd.

A loving wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother she is survived by four sons, Thomas G. Cross, Jr. and wife, Nancy, of Greenville, SC, James W. Cross and wife, Madge of Lexington, NC, Peter H. Cross and wife, Dale of Winston-Salem, NC, and Dr. Timothy G. Cross and wife, Lauretta of Simpsonville, SC; 12 grandchildren; and 20 great-grandchildren.

Memorials may be made to Mitchell Road Presbyterian Church, 207 Mitchell Rd., Greenville, SC 29615, to be distributed among the numerous missions Mrs. Cross supported.
